Red Horse Kicked at Tomato Kick

food trip drinking sessions

“Five hundred!” I blurted shortly after being seated when I saw what the people at the other table is drinking. Red Horse 500ml. “Ngayon lang ako ulit iinom ng hindi stallion,” I told my friends.

The scorching summer heat makes you just want to stay indoors with the fan and AC on but thank goodness I managed to defy the laze for I should’ve missed yet another awesome night.

When Inah asked if I want to go out, I asked, “Saan? Sa Mall?” Kasi sobrang init di ko maisip maglakad lakad sa labas, haha. She LOLed, too, and suggested we go to Diliman. Since, I wanted to explore and go food tripping in Diliman for some time now, I said yes. I remembered I was just texting with our friend Rogelio the night before and he asked if there’s any get together happening soon. Sakto! Three’s a party!

We were supposed to do some photo sessions but we got lost multiple times and the sun set too soon.

We went looking for that restaurant/food stall “Lutong Bahay” but learned that they are open only in the morning. Sayang, we went ice candy-ing and tea-ing instead before moving on in search for the famed Mang Larry’s Isawan.

After walking and walking and asking random people for directions (most of them doesn’t really know where Mang Larry’s Isawan is), we found him!

Mang Larry's Isawan

Mang Larry’s Isawan is indeed popular! Pinipilahan talaga! You just need to have patience because they got lots of customers and you have to wait for your orders to be cooked. The wait is worth it anyway.

After wolfing down 27 sticks of isaw, we went Tomato Kickin’ so we could talk about things we can only talk about with alcohol around, haha.
I was amazed by how we talked about lots of things about us/our high school life I never knew of, despite the fact that we’ve been friends for years and it’s not the first time we went out together.

Then 8 Toleran walks into the bar at di ko na naman mapigilan maging groupie. Ang daldal ko lang at ang ingay ko, kung makapag-Ian Tayao ako parang wala sila 8 sa tabing table. Well, it’s one of the best things about being drunk, you say things and don’t give a damn about what people thinks or say about you or about the things you said. The perks of being unknown, sabi nga ni Inah.
Alam mong lasing ka na kapag yung crush mo pinipicture-an mo nang walang paalam, harap-harapan at may flash pa. :p Yes, 8 is the better looking Queso but I am still Team Ian. food trip drinking sessions

We were the last ones to leave the place. Well, 8 and company were still there when we left but they’re not really like customers I supposed? food trip drinking sessions

Oyster Party

(Photo: Inah)

After the photowalk, we’d go to an Oyster Party in Bulacan, Inah said. Sige! I answered. Anong meron sa Oyster Party. Probably one of the dumbest questions ever asked. :p Malay ko ba, baka tinawag lang siyang Oyster Party pero wala naman talagang oyster involved.

Pero literal pala, may highblood oyster nga.

Pasta All You Can Take 2

Fusilli Tinapa and Tuna flakes

I’ve been craving for pasta since last weekend but I had to postpone the craving (LOL I don’t know you could actually do that) because as early as then, Mara scheduled an eat out at Penpen’s.

So last Saturday, I went all the way to Cubao to meet them friends for Pasta-All-You-Can. For the love of Aligue Pasta. But too bad they didn’t have aligue sauce that time.  It broke my heart indeed.

Home Alone on a Long Weekend

So I was home alone since Friday night. I actually had no plans of going home to Cagayan even before I went on a sudden trip to Cebu because 1) I’m broke 2) I dread the loooooooong bus trip, can’t afford to fly 3. I gotta work until October 29 leaving me with a 3-day weekend. Enough with excuses, I’m a little guilty coz I won’t be able to visit my sister on All Soul’s Day. Siya na lang daw dadalaw sakin sabi ni Dona, LOLJK Mabait yun. Babawi na lang ako sa Christmas at New Year.

My landlady may have been surprised when she asked me whether I’ll go home or what and I answered, “no.” For the past months, I’ve been going out of town every time there’s a long weekend so she must’ve thought I’ll leave the metro for this holiday. Na-bother ata siya na mag-isa lang ako. Oh well, being alone is nothing new. I’m the best case of being forever alone y’know, hehe. No joke but during the summer of 2009, I was all alone in this big house for 2 months because every summer, my landlady and her son and their househelp goes on a vacation to Pangasinan. I didn’t have a roommate then. When my parents learned about this they freaked out a little but by the time I informed them, the 2 months summer vacation was almost over.

When in Baguio: Experience the Epic Night Life

When we were in SM, I brought Diana and Emman to the souvenir shops located at the outer part of the ground floor. While in Sagada Weaving, the two came with a crazy idea of still pursuing our Sagada trip. The plan: they’ll get absent from work for a day so we could spend a day in Sagada. As for myself, I’ve already let go of the Sagada trip but then if they want to, I’ll have to accompany them. They really really are desperate. On the other hand, Shyne, Rein and Ren planned to go home by noon time because they’re already short of budget, which only made the Sagada plan more viable.

So the next day, we woke up early, well, I woke up at around 5:30am but immediately went back to bed (hey, it’s cold!). Besides, with the kind of weather, I was pretty sure there were no buses going up yet. It was past 7 when we went out but we left our things at the Inn, because we weren’t really expecting much.

Indeed, it was another disappointment. But then I’ve completely moved on by that time, so it was fine with me. I dunno for Diana and Emman though. So what I did was bring them to the market and Maharlika Complex so they can buy pasalubong. We went back to the Inn and then checked out altogether at past noon. However, something made up for our nearly ruined day.

Finally, Oh My Gulay has opened! We’ve been going there for the past days but they were on a renovation or something. Just like me 6 years ago, the first-timers at OMG was so amazed with the place so they took loads of photos. Also, there was an ongoing exhibit by all-female artists at VOCAS.

When in Baguio: Capture Memories

On our third day in Baguio, we kept our hopes that there’ll be trips going to Sagada already. We checked out at Sta. Theresa and went to Dangwa Terminal, only to be disappointed once again. Dispatchers at Lizardo Trans said a nine-kilometer was washed out of the way to Sagada and that they aren’t sure when their operation shall resume.

I was saddened, big time. It felt like I was responsible for everything. We could’ve postponed the trip because we already learned about the storm before travelling. But we went anyway. To lighten things up, Emman suggested we’ll just spend the day roaming around the city or in La Trinidad because there’s much to see in Baguio and two of our pals were first-timers in the place. We discussed things over breakfast at Good Taste Restaurant.

When in Baguio: Admire the Beau

Thanks to my frat/soro brods and sisters who were at the prime of their drunkenness, I was awaken by their noise at quarter pass 6. Another thing I love and hate about Baguio is the extremely cold mornings. I needed to leave asap to check if there are trips going to Sagada. But it turned out there was none. Of course we were disappointed but what is another day in the city of Baguio, we thought. We sure hoped and prayed Halsema Highway would be cleared immediately and there’d be trips the next day.

After getting our lazy asses off of bed, we went to town for eats. For the second time, Oh My Gulay was closed. So we went to the nearest ‘only in Baguio’ restaurant, Jack’s Rice.

When Stranded in Baguio: Eat

The past 4 days I spent sleeping, clearing the room of my stuff, social networking and wishing I had more money and time to spare for Baguio.

Five of my colleagues and I were keen to push through with our plan to spend the long weekend in the highlands. A month earlier, I already set the date because I knew there’d be 2 regular holidays falling on weekdays so it’s gonna be a long weekend! Plus that weekend too coincides with the APO Gamma Pi’s 40th Anniversary post-celebration. I thought I could crash at the party before going up to Sagada.

By August 23, Tuesday, there was a storm lurking in the Philippine area of responsibility but it didn’t show off any serious harm for the next few days. Until Thursday, when authorities began issuing warnings and signals in various places in the north where tropical storm Mina was projected to fall. I began to feel anxious as somehow I’d be responsible for all of us. Once the storm grows strong, it could cast serious damages on the Cordilleras, and most probably we won’t make it up there.

Indeed, the storm tried its best to ruin the plans of every vacationist set to north. For the whole weekend, our group was stuck in Baguio. We were saddened of course, we went there to see Sagada in the first place, Baguio’s supposed to be just a stopover, so I can attend to the APO event.

But still, we were stuck IN BAGUIO. The storm may have tried but still we enjoyed every bit of our long weekend being stranded in the lovely city up in the mountains.
